Promise of self-driving car

California has passed a legislature legalizing self-driving car to be on the road.  This is an exciting development.  Google has been road testing its self-driving car, and it may be lot sooner than we think that we see self-driving cars on the road.

Self-driving car will change many things around us;
I cannot wait to see it on the road.
I don't think anyone fully realizes what this means.  I don't think anyone does.

Self-driving car won't be just about reading your news paper behind the wheel or being able to finish your makeup while on the way to work.  Think about rental car driving itself to you when you need it.  You won't have to keep your car in your garage.  You can use a Zipcar-like service and get a car on demand delivered right to your doorstep.

What about car-pooling service?  What about car as a service just like software as a service?  Cars can be time-shared and virtualized just like servers are time-shared and virtualized by Amazon.

I think there are many possibilities with self-driving car.  I can't wait to see it happen around us.
